ALPHA-LIPOIC ACID is a coenzyme that is capable of fighting free radicals in both fatty and water-based environments. This makes ALPHA-LIPHA ACID a very potent anti-oxidant that can help fight heart disease and some of the other ills of aging. ALPHA-LIPOIC ACID also has several potential benefits for diabetics. It enhances glucose uptake in non insulin-dependent diabetes and inhibits glycosylation (the abnormal attachment of sugar to protein). It has also been used to improve diabetic nerve damage and reduce pain associated with that nerve damage. Preliminary evidence also indicates improvement in the visual function for people who suffer from glaucoma.
